The Cape Peninsula
Reformed Church (CPRC) is an
English-speaking congregation of the
Dutch Reformed Church (DRC) in South
Africa. Often people refer to us by the
our initials - "CPRC".
Some of our members are
from a DRC background but many are not.
Some had no church background at all when
they became members of Cape Peninsula
Reformed Church. Although we come from
different cultural and racial
backgrounds, we in CPRC believe that we
are one in Christ. In our congregation we
have learned to cherish and cultivate
this unity.
Because we are the only
English-speaking congregation of the
Dutch Reformed Church in Cape Town, many
of our members stay with us, even when
they move around in the Peninsula. One
result of this is that one gets to know
the other people in the church. The
close-knit and warm fellowship of the
congregation is one of its strengths.
One the other hand, we
realize that one of our weaknesses have
been that we have not made it clear to
outsiders that they are welcome to join
us in worshipping God. We have made a
decision to do all that we can to rectify
that. One of the ways in which we would
like to explain to outsiders why be
follow Jesus, is our 2000 - Whose
birthday? outreach - a series of 10
Sunday evening services focussing on the
question: Who was this Jew from Nazareth
whose 2000th birthday every one is going
crazy over?
We believe in the past
few months in 1999 we have grown in this
area. Please visit us and see for
yourself.
If you have no church
home, we invite you to join us in being a
part of the body of Christ in Cape Town.
We would like to be
known as "the church who
cares".
